Minecraft Prison servers

Minecraft Prison servers are a mining based gamemode where players have to earn money and rank up. On these servers when starting off players do not spawn in a normal Minecraft world, but instead in a prison mine where they must break blocks, sell what they collect, and use that earned money to rank up (usually through ranks called A-Z).

Every Prison server handles its mines slightly differently, with some using shared public mines while others let players unlock or upgrade their own private mine. Practically every server though has a plot or cell based system where players can build, store items they collect, or open player shops. As players progress through the prison they will unlock better mines with new blocks that are worth more when sold. Since prison is a slow grind based gamemode there are usually a lot of additional features added, especially on newer servers such as custom enchantments, PvP zones, auto-selling backpacks, minions that mine automatically for you, and money multipliers to speed up progression.
